Hi All,

Narrowing down my search. I have found an 80 that I'm interested in. it had the 4.5 engine and the A442F gearbox. The gearbox and new seals for the Torque Converter, Rear Crankshaft and transfer box done in March Last year. The underneath seems clean. The Drivers side body work looks like it has had some work done.

The Sunroof apparently doesn't work and appears to have been sealed? Any thoughts on what this could be/How easy do you think it would be to fix?

There appears to be little history with it though. Would you guys take a chance?

Search the forum for sunroof leak and its well documented , like as not someone just sealed it shut rather than fix it .

80 series you really have to go look at and have a good poke around. Petrol 80s were always cheaper than diesels and normally better condition generally. Mileage is normally lower in part I think due to the consumption figures if towing regularly can get scary. That said reasonably good mpg can be achieved with timing tweaks etc. Gary 820 could advise I'm sure. If it's had lpg fitted make sure it's been run with a lubricant system as valve and head damage can happen if not. You have to assess these old warhorses on there merits and be prepared to accept a few issues unless paying massive money. That's not always the case then. Many highly priced badly tarted up sheds about too. Post up details of any trucks you are looking at as you'd be surprised how many are known to someone on here. Your on the right site for help and info. Good bunch on here with more knowledge than you can believe.

This is the car. And all the associated photos and info I have asked him for. Thoughts appreciated!

MOT History looks OK... Last fail was 2013

This looks one to stay clear of, being an import theres no guarantee of true mileage and they are never worth as much as UK spec cars. This is very dear.
As Dave has pointed out, there's filler in them there sills so its the beginning of a nightmare.
When 80 hunting patience is the key and the right one will come. I've run a couple of petyrol80's in the past and find them very expensive on fuel.

Thanks Higgy, Appreciated. Where did you manage to find the Reg Plate? I wonder where else it is for sale!

Higgy, I just zoomed on the pics and saw the Reg no. Thanks again. I shall keep an eye on it. Cheers

If its solid, and it appears to be, it could be a worthwhile but slightly smaller alternative to an 80 series. Will row along far better than a 2.4 version.
