Thought I'd test the 2 ton rating on my engine hoist to get the back of the 100 far enough off the ground to change the rear springs ...

Nice cave Jon. How are you finding working on level ground? Must be a bit strange.
 
it passed the test :)Working on level covered concrete is a bit of a luxury but I'm getting used to it!
 
2-ton engine cranes are very useful things and get used for all sorts of jobs :whistle:.

Like assembling a Milling Machine :icon-cool:.

(How tidy it all was back then :icon-rolleyes:).

Its not the ram or jib you have to watch on those, Its usually the castors that collapse and cause the injuries...much saver with a log and long stick I reckon.
 
If correctly rated it should be safe at the rate. But it's only a lifting device not a supporting device so you should put supports under before going further.
 
There were 2 axle stands under the back ends of the chassis to support it once lifted.
