Ennio Morricone dies, aged 91

I never got to see him conduct his work or meet him but so many of the various things I do – write, paint, work on truck, research or just think – I do with his music playing.
For me he is the greatest composer and an inspiration.

He has composed the music for over 500 films, starting with A Fistful of Dollars (where the music was composed first and the scenes created to fit) through The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, The Mission, and so on through to Quentin Tarantino’s Hateful Eight (EM won an Oscar for that film in 2016).

As director Edgar Wright said, “Morricone could make an average movie into a must see, a good movie into art, and a great movie into legend.”
