What ho chaps

I haven't made it onto the 90 forum much as MUX, my 80, is my DD whilst the wife runs Tonka, our 'T' reg Colorado, around the place...

Anyhoo, I got to drive Tonka yesterday for the first time in a while as MUX had spat the dummy out over me leaving his main beam on for a while  It was great to drive Tonka but he sounded a bit clonkier than I recalled - he's had a zorst rattle forever but its never bothered us.

When I got home, after getting MUX off the public highway courtesy of Tonka's batteries, I investigated... The noise was from the back so I grabbed the end of the exhaust & the noise stopped. Great :) Then the rear section came away in my hand - aha... The advisory on the MOT was right

So, the point of it all, what size exhaust pipes have been fitted to the 3.0 turbo engine with what effect? I'm thinking of chopping it all out & throwing in a straight through pipe.

MUX will be getting a 3" system soon - I wondered if that would be too big for the 3 litre engine... Would a 2½" be better?

Look forward to hearing from youp :)

Cheers

Now that is the kind of intuitive question that I will have to answer later when I get home... ;)

I think its about 2¼" O/D from previous reading...

The system is 2.25". I had to make up sections when I cut out the middle box. Sorry Gav had to work today or I'd have been on it quicker. However, there are parts of it like the rear pipe that are 2.5". Possibly due in parts to the bending operations where it has bulged. I got bits from Jetex and made the new sections myself. If you want to go 3" all the way through you can but you need a Beaudesert down pipe bit to bolt onto the header. Now if I recall, Matti in Finland had a spare one for sale

Matti .....

I wondered why it was so quiet today ;-)
What is that bit (Beaudesert) bit all about Chris?

Can I not just make up a flange to mount off the header & drop down into a flexi & straight out the back with some pipe??

I was hoping somesone had already done a system without any 'boxes' on the Colorado like I am planning for MUX...

I may have to see how MUX's goes before planning Tonka's...

I duuno Gav I just make this stuff up. There is a solid bit after the header (I always used to call it a manifold) which then goes into the sacrificial bit. Beaudesert make a replacement bit that makes it 3" - it's a cast down pipe. Not a specialist in that area, but it's a performance mod. Matti is yer man. KZJ90? PM him and ask what the gig is, man.
