Factory standard tyre size 265/ ?

Hi guys

Time for some less aggressive tyres for my 80. Does anyone know the definitive factory standard size please? I know it's 265 / x / 16 ie is it 70 or 75? I've googled it to death and find a lot of conflicting numbers (275 and 265)

I want ot switch to something smoother than the beautiful 305/70's. A trade off I know but they're noisy.. I have the Goodyear Wranglers. Great offroad but alas I'm more of an overlander than BEN!

According to the sticker on the door pillar the 2 stock sizes for an 80 are 215/80 or 275/70. I'n guessing the 215's are fitted to the narrower split rim wheels.

Thanks a lot Andy - I didn't know the numbers were on the door..
I really want the Pirelli Scorpion AT's but they don't come in the 275/70 size and anything smaller will make my truck look like a shateboard.

When in doubt do what Ian R does : "I like big tyres"
