as part of a major restoration on the rear of the truck i am fitting the rear diff to a new axle case,
my question is the new gasket sufficient to make the seal or should a gasket sealant be used as well?
Personally I would add a smear of sealant too. It's easy to tear the gasket on assembly and even if the tear is at the top, the splashing action of the oil inside will still lead to a leak.
