my front brake discs need replacing after 112,000 miles
is that a normal, decent or poor wear rate?

i'm thinking i don't need OEM replacements?

what's anyone think?

cheers

What exactly needs replacing disc's, or calipers? I have just replaced my calipers at 120k miles and I did the discs at around 100k. Pads have probably been done at least 3 may 4 times in the life of the car.

So I would say this is normal wear and tear. Having said that, I would say the salt used in the UK roads over winter accelerate the wear, so not sure what "normal" in a warm climate would be.

I replaced the discs all round on the 120 when I bought it at 130k. They would have lasted a good while longer with half worn pads but I wanted to start from a good base line. I used Blueprint discs and Toyota pads and overhauled the calipers myself. After 6k the discs still look like new and the brakes are very effective.

OEM discs were 140 euros each down here

no shaking steering now, great brakes again
