When the front CV's start knocking/clicking on full lock, which part is it usually that has started to wear: inboard joint, outboard joint, both or something else could be causing the sound..?

From my experience on front wheel drive cars, if its clicking on full lock its normally the outer CV, if its clicking under acceleration and/or engine over run then its the inner CV. The inner CV is usually more difficult to determine what side it is coming from.

Cheers Rob. Mine is fine under acceleration, its just at full lock, and only first thing in the morning when everything is cold. Is there a way to verify which it is before I order the new parts i.e. take the wheel off and move it about a bit..?

I cant really help you on that one, they way I did it is by ear. You could get someone to stand outside to listen where it is coming from (if you drive with the handbrake on you will be able to hear it any time).

Just checked on toyodiy and it seems that the CVs are not side specific.

I had both mine knocking under acceleration at full lock
Or towing a load on full lock. Changed both in my mates garage and now all
Quiet again. Had a good search about, milners are about 70 each Toyota 300 odd each!!!!

if its doin it on full lock I would go for the outer ;)
