Front Diff question.

Can anyone enlighten me as to the upgrade Toyota made to the 100 series front diff to make it stronger after its issues on the early models.

Something in the back of my mind says that it was a thicker pinion shaft. A side by side comparison of the parts diagram on Toyo would confirm. What years are we talking about Andy? I guess first year and last year would reveal the differences.

They went from a 2 pin to 4 pin diff. I think the 2 pin was only in the first year of build.

Thanks for the replies chaps, it was a question I was asked elsewhere. I looked on Toyodiy and mine does have 2 cross shafts and 4 planet gears. I guess the early ones only had one cross shaft.
