Do you guys have any tips for the fitting of the standard spring on a standard shocker, I dropped mine of at a decent mot centre and they said they couldn't compress the spring enough to get the top mount on. They wernt using normal spring clamps they had like a proper machine....

Did mine with a set of these.

It's a bit of a ball ache job because you need to get the top mount orientated just right so it bolts back in and the bottom of the shock lines up nicely with the wishbone. Not difficult though. I note that the much more expensive "proper" machines Machine Mart sell only have 1 ton compression, and these clamps go to 1.5 tons.

Was it a set of clamps that were fitted to the spring or a proper bit of kit mounted to a bench or similar?

When I had my springs fitted it took the guy less than 10 mins to fit the 2 springs.

Probably worth trying another garage or maybe a 4x4 specialist who would have the right kit.

They were probably using an air compressor and sometime after you left realised its leaking .

I did mine with a set of spring clamps and straps. I had to do it in two parts though. Wind up the clamps, then strap the springs tight. Loosen back the clamps, re-position them and repeat. Then with the straps still in place, place them in the shock strut, pop the shock back into position on the truck and then undo the strap that's holding the tension on the spring. Worked like a charm, but takes some time!

If you really get stuck, you can send them here. Our machine will definitely do it :)
