Actually that picture is Avebury not Stonehenge but I drove through the middle of it this morning and can testify they have been put forward a hour as I nearly crashed into one in the middle of the road!!

So the mystery of Stonehenge is finally explained - the rocks are calcified rovers which broke down and leaked so much they formed stalagmites . Seems feasible
