Hi All,
Well, slightly disappointed that the take up of the list has been slow
from the original people that I was mailing, but I am sure it will come
in time (BTW - welcome Willem!). If you know of any other LC
enthusiast, please do encourage them to join. The digest mode is also
up and running and an archive facility will follow soon.
I have been in touch with moderators on some other lists that I am on
and will be announcing the list on that in the next couple of days.
The site is only just a design concept at the moment, so please ignore
the forms for newsletters and membership. These will be replaced in
the next few days.
So what do you think of the logo? I know the roof line is a bit off
for an 80, but not bad for a start.
The next stage in the development is to put together the database of
suppliers and manufacturers - I hope to get this up some time over this
weekend and will add a form so that people can add their own suppliers
to the list, although all content will be checked before going live.
I am inclined to open this up to all countries/continents, so that if
you happen to be travelling across Africa or on a trip in Canada, you
can still find a local supplier. I also think that it will be a good
for attracting users to the site. At some point in the future I might
introduce a rating system similar to what you get on Amazon/eBay.
I have been toying with the idea for a members area, but am not sure
what we would need a private area for. The only thought is for the
list members so that they can access Bios, contact details, etc.
Without the info being spread to the public. Would you be willing to
share contact details (other than email) with other list members?
Along the same lines I am inclined to provide a registration/profile
system so that we can gauge the number of regular users and provide
personalised content (40s info for 40s owners), although this wouldn't
be compulsory.
Thanks to Roman, Martin and Neill for the content so far, please do
keep it coming.

Hi Julian,
Sorry I haven't been in touch after your hard work to launch the list, I've
had a busy week.
I'll post a bio later and set up the digest mode - I find it easier to read
all the days mailings in one hit as I'm also on quite a few other lists.
Good work with the list so far, seems fine. One thing I've found on Yahoo
lists recently is spam attacks - I assume as you're moderating the list you
should be able to avoid it?
All the best,
Neill

The digest is currently set to run weekly, with so little traffic it
hardly seems worth doing it daily, although I can change it if you
want.
Thanks. For some reason I am having major problems posting to the list
myself - something to do with being on the same server.

Yep, I have complete control and also all mail is prescanned for
