Hi Gents,

I am planning to change the oil of the gear box and the differential on My KZJ95 Colorado Manual trans. Got the following question below:

1. Oil for the gear box?
2. Does the transfer box have separate Oil? if so do they have the same type of oil?
3. Differential oil type? Mine have the differential lockers so does it mean the it is not a LSD? front Diff oil and rear are the same if not LSD?

thanks in advance.

From the owners manual of my 1997 95 series. Hope it helps.

And yes, gearbox and transfer box are separate. If you have a locker it won't be a Limited Slip Diff. LSDs are supposed to have a tag on them declaring such or it is possible to tell by jacking and checking wheel rotation on each side of the axle. Don't think front diffs were ever LSD.

Thanks mate. It's a big help because couldn't seems to find the owner's manual. cheers!

I have both (manual) trucks and i think i could swap diffs and transfer box from one to the other so yes should be the same oil .

I think I'll use monograde sae 90 gl-5 oil for both diffs as I don't remember when it was less than -10°C around here.
