Only anecdotally.
When I bought my 80 series they (Grosvenor Garage Guildford) tried to
persuade me to buy a (much more expensive) 100 series because the
gearchange was "better". They didn't say how much better!
It might be worth posting the question on the 80scool forum, because
manual gearboxes are much more common in Australia and New Zealand than
they are in Europe.

have heard that the manual gearbox from LC100 can fit to LC80 24
valves?does someone knows anything about it-it has been
much better with the synchronising
