Good source of Toyota electrical plugs

Hi,
Have any of you come across a good source of electrical plugs and
sockets that are the same as the Toyota ones?
I am trying to find one to match the trailer wiring plug at the back of
the 80 (there are two) rather than splicing into the factory wiring.
Any pointers would be appreciated.

Julian,
Probably a car breakers depo that has other age related Toyotas. Another option
is to search through the harness behind the dashboard to see if you can find a a
similar redundant plug/socket . I've never come across a Denso retailer in the UK.
If you have a shell only, Wehicle Wiring Products have a selection of various pins.

The Toyota parts for the tow bar and wiring are no longer available. When I
did mine I used male spade crimp terminals and self amalgamating tape.
Having an electrical engineering background I'd suggest this is your best
solution.
The necessary dash indicator is an led that plugs directly into the existing
indicator relay which is by your right foot.
The 100 series led and plug may fit or you most likely find a RAV 4 one is
the same.

Hi Dave,
I think that is what I will have to end up doing, just would have like to have
a nice plug.
Fortunately that is already wired in - at some point the vehicle had one
fitted, but it has been removed.

As others have said you can't get the plug any more.
Whoever fitted mine just cut off the plug and used the leftover wires and, now that I've redone it with proper connectors, this works fine. You don't have to hack into a harness proper as the plug is just a spur.
One point to note - on mine at least - you don't get a wire for the rear fog-lights in that OEM plug. I've figured out how to get a feed from inside the tailgate, but haven't bothered to do anything about it.

Julian, this is interesting.
I wonder if we have the same outlets.
You may remember that my 80 has the standard UN/NATO military hook (but no
wiring socket) , useful but I can't use it on my little pig trailer kept in
UK - but that's another story. But I do want to bring it down here. So
when I bought the other 'new' 1996 military spec 80 for one of my offices
in July, I duly liberated the beautiful swan-necked 50mm tow hitch that it
had on it - well they don't tow anything in that office. This hitch has a
socket and mounting bracket welded to its mount.
When I removed it I found the wiring - in split convoluted conduit - went
though the floor (no chafe grommet) and led to the harness in the tool
compartment where it was traditionally spliced with scotchlocks. But
whilst underneath I did notice a handy connector dangling from the loom
that goes across the chassis in front of the rear crossmember and towards
the LHS of the car.
So, is this the socket you are talking of ? Is this (plus mate on the other
side) put there by Toy for this purpose. I don't know if mine is the same
but it certainly does not have 7 connectors, maybe 3 at most. I assume that
you have found different circuits in the 2 separate sockets that supply all
required connections for a trailer socket - yes? I would love to put the
hook on but would like to connect the 'proper' way if there is one. On
behalf of everyone else - I thank you for your research !!
cheers

indoors, servicing the starter contacts and watching SkySports Rugby the
rest of the day - in safety ! (the tracer looked pretty in the night sky
yesterday though).
