Hi Guys
Does anyone know where I can get a drivers side head light for the HDj 80
1992.
I tried Milner but they are out of stock and dont know when they will get
some in.
And as usual Toyota want me to sell a kidney to be able to buy one from
them.
thanks

Scrap yard may be a good bet. Type "breakers" into www.google.ie and
see if you get an online search. Failing that try
http://www.1stchoice.co.uk/ but it's mainland UK.
They send your request out to their network of breakers, any of whom can
reply by email. I did this once before looking for an alternator and got
several replies at good prices.

Thanks Christopher and Roman
Roman, a stone from a truck hit it and my windscreen about 2 years ago now
and put a hole in both.
I keep filling the hole with glue to prevent water getting in but it only
lasts for a while.
Then once the rain gets in the glass fills up with condinsation.
I then have to get a hairdryer and try to dry the inside of the lenses.
This takes ages to do and I finally decided to get another head light only
to find Milner are out.
Just for info, Toyota want 360 euro reduced from 460 euro for one head
light.
thanks

John,
Condensation is not a problem, only a blotch. Just remove the rubber bulb gaiter
at the back of the lamp and it will go away after a day or two.
I am wondering if the hole in the glass could be repaired in the same
way as they fix stone marks on the windscreens?

It definitely can, I did this on my wife's old Passat which got a hole chipped in the headlight.
I got a repair kit from a car parts shop, it's so long ago that I can't remember what it was called, but it wasn't expensive.
It was a bit like fixing a puncture in a bicycle inner tube: a transparent patch went on the outside, stuck on with the glue they provided. I seem to remember having to apply the glue from the inside of the assembly using a syringe, so it was a bit fiddly and meant taking the headlight assembly off in order to do it.
However it worked first time, sealed the hole (no moisture problems), didn't seem to affect the light from the headlight, got through MoT tests OK, and was a LOT cheaper than 350 Euros. It wasn't that hard to do either.
As for the windscreen try asking your insurance company. Most comprehensive policies on the UK mainland will pay for someone to fix windscreen chips for nothing. It's in their interest to spend the =A350 or this takes since it can save them replacing the whole screen if it shatters.
I found a chap doing it in the supermarket car-park here about a year ago, and he did 4 chips on mine while I was shopping. It took about 45 minutes, was totally free, and I can't find the holes unless I look really hard.
