Hi Steve here from NZ.
Just acquired a 1987 Landcruiser LX Turbo FRP Engine 13BT
Blows a bit of smoke when accelerating sometimes Black /White, improves when the engines hot.

This forum has been really helpful. Thanks guys.

Cheers
Steve

Welcome. Kiwi. 'Blows a bit of smoke' Plenty on here 'Blows a bit of Smoke' you will find more questions than answers. Why not make a short video of your problem and post it in vehicle specific. White smoke usually indicates a new pope has been chosen?

Greetings from another Steve. Where in NZ? I love the place, been five times, have family in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

Hi Steve and welcome to the forum. Black smoke is usually overfuelling or lack of air which could be down to a partially blocked air filter. White can be unburnt diesel if you’re lucky, steam if you’re not. Does it use any water? Probably worth starting a new thread with a specific title after having a search on here.

Best of luck with it. Post up some pictures and fill in your signature line with details of your cruiser like others have. This helps us help you. :)

Best wishes

Rich

Steve the forum loves pictures and even more so videos...be great to see your truck

The other one means not enough right foot. If you can still see the road behind you then its not getting enough diesel!
Think he might have been referring to the Pope… a new one usually means there’s something wrong with the old one. Much like the black smoke issue…lack of air.

I thought all pre 2000 landcruisers smoked excessively by default!
