Hi Dyfed
Yes that link worked, I remember it now from during the week, I still think
its an import but that does not mean its a bad buy. Some say you cannot
really be sure the mileage is genuine and no way of checking . I am sure
that a lot of non imports have had their clocks adjusted ever so aswell.
Another thing that is said is that the milage may be lower but thats because
the Japs spent a lot of time in traffic jams, so dont clock up the miles,
but standing in too much traffic as we all know is as bad if not worse for
the engine because it may not travel the miles but will still wear out never
the less. There is a common misconseption that if you dont do the miles you
dont need to change the oil as often, but it can be the reverse as nasty
stuff builds up in the engine and need to be given a good few long trips to
free every thing. By all acounts I do not know very much compared to the
rest but I still will give what I know. I have a GB vx and it has the diff
locks, a fast idel switch to the right of the steering for use when using a
winch etc, adjustable steering wheel, Auto box, dash dim switch, es, em, ew,
els, three interior lights, cloth seats. I think you will know when you see
it if its for you, as we have said get all the info you can, Have you looked
into the oil kit from difflock yet.

I couldn't find the oil thing from difflock
Do you have any details on it?
Thing is with it being bank holiday weekend I wont be able to get it till
Wednesday at the earliest
No I know I should rush things, but developments have come about today that
means my budget has gone to see what I can get for mine first..
If its waay below 5k I have to forget it (something I don't want to think
about)

Imports:
I bought a Jap import with low mileage. It was immaculate, looked like
it had been in storage for most of the time. By far the best one I
looked at and the same price as worse GB ones because it was an import.
The engine sounded by far the smoothest so I accepted the milage was
correct. It showed it had been purchased from a Honda main dealer in
Tokyo and I had the mileage confirmed on the paperwork from them. Could
be fake but I doubt it as the condition agreed.
It has all the lockers etc and stuff described below, not that I need
them. Only 2 things that annoy me are the radio struggles with radio 4 -
don't think these band expanders work that well and it beeps like a
lorry when reversing!

So theoretically as long as im frugal with the mechanics and the innards and
the paperwork is ok I should be fine
Lockers would obviously be a bonus but I cant afford the more expensive uk
models atm
Also on the autotrader site there is a uk model on a Q plate
One to avoid?

I think you just have to look and judge them. The point I was making was
don't be put off by imports just pick the best one. After all I don't
think any were made in the UK and frankly I'd trust a Jap factory for
quality control above anywhere else! Can't see them shipping sub
standard ones into home market either so what does "import" mean? Only
that a few changes are needed to meet European regs like the rear fog
light and mph speedo. That had been done for me by the dealer and all UK
paperwork sorted.

Can someone shed any light on the matter
What I will do I ask the seller and let you know what he/she said.

Hi Dyfed
Import or not that not really the issue. I have been looking for over 4 month
before i imporeted. Important would be to ask the guy for the auction sheet.
It gives you the grading (usually between 4 and 3) and the interior grading(betw.B
and D), so 4 B is good. The Mileage is usually ok- some cars i bid on were
withdrawn due to fake mileage. They are quite honest. Also the miles are
ok for the age as you will see very few cars with more than 160000 km on
auction. Should the auction sheet (right top corner) say R or A than it is
an accident car.... See if if you can get the piece of paper! regards mike
