Hi there mates!
This is Jozsef from Hungary/EU.

I am just after a sudden purchase of an LC 80, 4.2l, 24V, all 3 diff-locks.

Recently found this forum and app.
What I could see in the last couple of days is that this place and the uaers are formidable!
Lot of good hints, ideas, help, etc.

I will surelly need it.
The car is not young (97 or 98 do not know it exaclty) and hve 402.000 km on board...

So feel that I am facing a lot of fun, but also abundant care taking.
Any help will be apreciated indeed.

Welcome Jozsef, nice looking 80 and with the relatively rare rear barn doors.

What's the plan for it?
 
The plan is next:

1. Doing the acute trouble shooting:
- engine preheating system,
- probably clutch, ant the most acute: rust avoiding and anti-rusting,
- changing the prop-shaft - for some reason one of them was not the proper length,

2. Giving a proper intermittent maintenance
Tough seems the prev owners did it: has a 16-17 years trackable Toyota service tracklog in Austria, furthermore the last SK owner was a car mechanic and started to prepare it for himself.
Anyhow: all fluids will be changed (engine oil, transmission/gearbox, cooling, brake, etc),


3. Mounting an off-road bumper and winch
Got with the car an Iron Man front bumper and a 12000 lbs winch. After the maintenance of the winch, mounting of full and papering it in the official papers.

The front and rear diff-block was not working at the first two try, at the 3rd one yes.
Will have to keep one eye open to this and react accordingly.

Do not know what else to do as next steps!?!
If any of you have some valuable tips/hints they are welcome!
Ie:
a. should I pressure clean the cooling system or just to take care of it if I see it's not efficient,
b. shall I change some of the tubes as a prevention or just those one which are damaged,
c. shall I dismount the axels and clean/rebuilt them, or just in case I can hear noises or trepidations,

d. same for transmission case or gearbox (if clutch has to be changed then for sure will see also these last 2),
d. shall I add a 2nd fuel filter, and if yes a pre or after the factory one,
e. shall I do same with the oil filtering?
