How to weld safely on my HDJ80

Hi Reno.
In my '92 HDJ80 I just disconnected the batteries and re-welded the
set bracket without any trouble.
I have used the welder several times on the chassis and never
experienced any problems at all. If yours is like mine, there's no
computers to worry about.

Reno,
Apart from disconnecting plugs from ICU's etc. (which owners of the
more high tech models will tell you all about) also remember the
basics - pull the alternator multi-plug and disconnect the alternator
output cable. The alternator diodes are very sensitive.
But if you have a choice of mig welder, then choose one that has a
circuit that is 'vehicle safe' . They have internal electronics that
somehow limit the radius of the magnetic field from the work area. I
have seen one used without any of the vehicle's
electrics disconnected and there was no effect on the vehicle.

PS. As for your opening remark, regular contributor Renate is very
definitely feminine !
