The time has come to sell the Howling Moon roof tent that we have on our other 4x4 touring vehicle.

The Howling Moon is a 1.4M Tourer model with the optional rip stop canvas skirt room. We bought this tent new from the UK distributor (Trek Overland), and have always taken good care of it throughout our ownership. It has been a very comfortable place to sleep, we have camped in all weathers from saharan heat to thundery storms and have never had an issue, coped with everything perfectly and has never let any water into the tent.

There main tent has two doors and two windows, both have insect screens and all the zips are in full working order. The tent has three pairs of sprung metal poles that keep the window canopies and front flysheet up, this design feature allows for excellent air flow and prevent the rain from entering via an open window.

The tourer model is designed to provide for the ladder when entering or exiting the tent when its raining, which is very welcome first thing in the morning! When the additional skirt room is fitted the ladder is completely closed in, providing privacy and full protection from the weather, when moving between the roof top tent and the vehicle.

The tent and skirt are made from 280 gms/sqm polyester/cotton ripstop material
Lightweight vacuum laminated composite base construction.
Aluminium mounting extrusion & 4xM8 bolts secure the roof tent to any roof mounting system
Optional 3 piece ladder (required for tall 4x4’s)
4 Internal storage pockects with an additional larger storage net above the main door
75mm thick high density mattress with an additional mattress topper
Sufficient space for bedding when tent is folded
4 x bungee cords to assist in packing up of the tent
Zip integrated annex skirt room with a zip out ground sheet, which provides a large living room and additional accommodation. Two large 3 piece windows which comprise of an external canvas cover, middle insect screen and then an internal canvas window. There is a rear access door and insect screen, and a large access door at the front of the skirt that allows unrestricted access to the rear of the 4x4.

As most will know the Howling Moon RTT is a South African made tent, made from quality materials, and to a well developed design. The quality of the material really shows, as the tent still looks as good as the day we bought it, and is in very good condition.

We have always taken good care of the tent and have also updated two of its features inline with the products development. We have added the newer flysheet design that features triangular shaped material that comes down the sides of the tent, forward of the side windows. The flysheet is then tethered to the base board by its built in elastic cords, this redesigned flysheet helps to reduce flysheet flap when camped in windy conditions. The other update has been a new tent weather cover which has an improved and more robust corner design, this cover is also still nice and supple, making it easy to fit to fit.

Everything is included in the sale:
1.4M Howling Moon Tourer RTT
6 sprung metal poles + 1 additional shortened pole
2 sprung pegs (for tent guys ropes)
Additional ladder extension piece
Optional Skirt room in rip stop canvas + all requires pegs
Rubber mat to protect skirt groundsheet from ladder feet damage
Additional mattress topper
Original flysheet as a spare

These pictures were taken on hard ground and so pegs couldn't be used to give the skirt its full shape.

As some of you know I own two RTT’s and sadly this one has seen little use recently, hence the sale. It is currently still fitted on top of a vehicle and can be viewed in Essex (near junction 29 of M25).

These are currently £2250 new! I’m looking for £1000 for this one which is still in fantastic condition and has years and years of use and enjoyment to give.

Thanks for looking.
