This may have been covered before but I watched a 30 min review on YouTube on how JCB have a combustion engine which runs on hydrogen with zero emissions, sounds like a petrol with a turbo , can be serviced by mechanics as the principals are very similar to a Diesel engines, hope yet for not embracing battery’s

Hydrogen might be more sustainable in the long term - it doesn't need any rare earth metals, just enough power to extract it from water. You could make a hydrogen plant on any coastline and have all the water you needed, all you need is a large amount of power to run it. If fusion ever matures we could produce tons of the stuff for buttons.

As mentioned emissions are just water and possibly NOx depending on combustion temperature, this can be a significant issue as hydrogen can burn much hotter than petrol. On the other hand, EGR to reduce NOx emissions on a hydrogen engine is much less prone to issues since there is nothing to form carbon deposits on it.

The new JCB 360 has a new development in the hydraulic system which stores the energy from the cylinders on the return side, then uses it to power the feed side.

Quite interesting how much waste energy is lost from the fluid returning to the hydraulic tank.

Sadly the new JCB 360 will be like most of the new generation JCB's ....a good deal less reliable than the ones they replace.... and much more difficult to service and repair.....
