Simon I would agree, for the UK it is way over cooled. I have had the
radiator roller blind pulled fully down for the past 12 months. The
temperature stays consistently just below the mid point of the gauge,
this was even the case last Sunday afternoon, a very warm day, returning
along the M4 with my trailer and a whopping big Rolls Royce Eagle diesel
on the back.
I have checked the thermostat, the vehicle warms up within 3 miles of
leaving home, although not as quick as my 4Runner that only took 2 miles
on the same roads, and the heater is fine.
It is obviously designed for warmer climes than ours.

Yup! indeed!!
My rad blind is pulled down too and last weekend? beast purred away
quite happily in the warmth and the temp never waivered - mid range too,
and the icon with the temp guage; on the low side.
