A pal of mine over here in France has 97 Colorado on which the ignition barrel is properly broken. The key no longer goes in and doesn’t turn and the immobiliser has kicked in preventing him starting it.

Is there a way to start it without and is there anyone who might be able to supply a new key and barrrel quite quickly?

Any help greatly appreciated

I think there's a known problem with the key wearing out and/or the the 'split security wafers' in the lock itself. I'm sure I have read that this can be solved by dismantling the ignition barrel and removing some of the wafers?

Sorry I can't remember more - I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along, but it might be worth googling Toyota security wafers fix

Several Youtube videos on how to remove and disassemble the barrel if you search "Toyota ignition barrel wafers" although my favourite that I have linked to in other posts seems to have been removed.
