I've had to take off the inter cooler on my series 100 LC to cure an air con leak. Some debris has gone down the big flow and return air pipes, unavoidable as corrosion had gone past the pipe joints. Does all air from the inter cooler pass through the air filter before entering the engine please ? If so I need not be 100% careful cleaning the pipes out. There's a smudge of black oil in the pipes coming from turbo do you think?

Very difficult to trace the pipes without taking a lot to bits.

Thanks

No the intercooler is after the airfilter so any crap will end up in the engine

Air comes in through the filter goes through the turbo into the intercooler and then to your piston chambers .

I pulled my D4D apart simply because i lost the plastic straw off an egr cleaner spray can (similar to what you get on wd40 cans) while spraying it into the intake just past the filter , it was a pita but better safe than sorry .

Turbo blades are not very strong and there's no room for foreign objects in the chambers .
