Interesting 80 on eBay 24v auto

Looks interesting and not in bad nick too. Always my favourite 80 model. With a MPH speedo too.

I am pretty sure that Cruiser was up for sale when I was looking for my 80 series. If I remember correctly it was for the same money. I remember the Front bumper and that it had ARB lockers. Julian from Overland Cruisers also thought that it might be a decent buy.

Good things:
- Jap import so hopefully minimal rust.
- Automatic 24v
- Fully locked with ARB.

That's an odd one for sure.

I wonder why?

Price and condition aside, maybe it's a salvaged rear-shunted hundee perhaps, it seems an odd conversion when you could just pick up a reliable Hilux (apologies for the pun).

No real comparison to a Hilux I'd say Clive. Only the 8th generation have 3.5t towing capacity and they are £30k. The ride will be a stack better on the Hundie and the refinement too.
These conversions are not uncommon in Aussie land.

Totally agree with you andy.

Loads of Ozzys do it. I've an 80 that's an ongoing conversion

I quite like it nice and quirky for UK at least, just has that cut and shut look about it, could of maybe changed rear tub colour ?

I did mine Tim. Was just rough on the body so decided to pic up it

IMHO the tub looks too small in proportion to the whole truck. Probaly due the wheel base - as the tub sits mainly behind the wheels.

That would look MUCH better if the rear tub had kept the shape of the 100, maybe adapted and used the bottom half of the OEM body panels and colour matched it. As it is it looks a rush job. JMO

What about a nice 60 series. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1989-TOYOTA-LANDCRUISER-HJ60-SAHARA-HIGH-ROOF-GX-4L-DIESEL-AUTO/132128466331?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid=222007&algo=SIC.MBE&ao=2&asc=20140122125356&meid=7e6c898defc54280b838bb2bc285274e&pid=100005&rk=6&rkt=6&sd=282394876817
I know they're old tech/low spec now but I like the front of the 60 series.

I'll stand correction :shifty: on the Hundee, but agree with TP.

It really depends on the use you have for it.

As a tidy tow truck with a limited utility ability, it's just fine.

Ha, that was one of mine I sold last year. I did about 6-7k in it the year I had it for my daily driver in 2007. Was stood in the workshop for years then I got it together and let it go. The wheels are the ones off the blue Hilux I bought from Tony at Lincomb for the more eagle eyed amongst us.
