hello FJ lovers. I'd like to intro myself. I'm new to this site and live on PEI. Call me Occy. Bought a pretty decent FJ in April here on the Island and have been looking for parts and so forth. Hope to be able to learn and input into this forum. Regards. Occy

Welcome. This site is mainly Series Land Cruisers but FJs are welcome too. I have a US spec FJ. Enjoy your ride!

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I have a FJ40 1978. Busy restoring. I’m sure it classifies as a series Landcruiser. I wrote FJ including all series owners. Cheers mate

Lol "FJ" puts us all in mind of the 40 series and deep down we all want one while the American FJ is a curiosity I'm sure we would all like to test drive .

There are a few of us on here with 40 series trucks, so welcome.

How far have you got with your restoration?

We do like pictures so if you have some of your FJ40, we'd like to see them

Regards,

Rodger

Hi Rodger,
I'm taking each panel individually, stripping to metal, preparing and shooting single stage Desert Sand by Toyota. I'm a professional painter, now 30 some years. I don't really like the body work, but love the paint. Will upload some soon.
Cheers
Occy

Hi and welcome good look with it you have to love a 40s so come on we like pics.

He’s the 40 as previous owner purchased it. Then he had frame etc sandblasted and anti rust coated. He painted engine compartment black. I’ll leave it so. He started remember bing femders etc and lost interest. So I bought it partly disassembled. Here are a few pictures up until the Desert Sand I just applied to front end panels on the 17th June 2022. Next I’m working on windshield frame the firewall then the tub. Hope to be done in a couple of months. Thanks for asking for pics.

Hi Occy,

Your 40 looks like a good basis. I had to do quite a lot of rust repairs to mine in the first years I got it, but that was twenty years ago. I had to learn to weld (still not very good) and, more enjoyable, I learnt to paddle lead and those repairs have lasted really well. I have some panels that need some attention, - left hand front wing and the rear panel corners but that will have to wait until the autumn as it is too hot here to do it in the summer.
Somewhere in the 40 archive on here is a piece I did on building my truck - Evolution of my 40.
Please keep us updated with your progress on the rebuild.
In the years before there were good 40 parts suppliers in Europe I used Spectre quite a lot for original parts and found them very good.

Regards,

Rodger
