I have been receiving ELCO mail for some months but everytime I submit a mail it is rejected so have tried joining again and this mail is by way of a test. I have a '91 HDJ80 import and I am the first UK owner. It is at present used as a work vehicle and as such is a superb tow truck. The winch has been put to good use as have the all round diff locks.I have not been 'off road' but would like to do some green laning, maybe in France. Some of the electric bits do not work and I am not fond of the climate control heating or the electric windows as they seem to get gummed up and I suspect that the suspension articulation is not as good as my Range Rover, however the engine is superb and the ride very good and the look of the vehicle probably the best of all the makes. One small thing puzzles me. On the underside of the leading edge of the bonnet is a small sticker with words SNOW VERSION in white letters on a blue background. Is this significant. Regards Kirk

Hi Kirk,
Well done, you made it on.
I've not come across it on any other imports. I guess if it was in
Japanese it may be relevant, but being an import I would have thought
that it might not be so important.
Clive, Dennis, etc - do you have anything similar on your imports?

Julian,
There is nothing like this on mine. I wonder what the differences are.

Hello all
I have been on the list since September, and found some good information.
Thank you for that.
Since time is normally scarce, I don't have much time to post.
Currently, I have an HDJ100, 2001, VX, Auto with AHC/TEMS. The main use
is as a daily driver for the family, incl three kids. Not much
off-roading, but it's nice to have the capability....
During my stay in the middle east up to 3 years ago, I got both an HZJ80GX
and this HDJ100VX. The 80 was sold to Cyprus before moving to Norway.
Big mistake. Should have kept both.
Since the factory warranty expired at 3 yr, I've been doing the
maintenance myself, as I've always done with previous vehicles (mopeds to
buses, and boats), and enjoying it, most of the time.
The 100 has been good most of the time. Only serious problem has been with
the AHC suspension, due to getting brake-fluid into the system, thanks to
ill-informed Toyota dealers/shops. Killed the membrane in the nitrogen
chambers over time. Expensive. And the Toyota workshop had no idea what
was going on. Sh!t happens. Now, it looks like the converter is out of
shape.... I'll keep you posted (if you're not good).

Hi Ugo
Looks like Toyota doesn't know what to do with your car either-one of the
reasons I might sell my

Well hello there list, have been listening in for some time now, well
have also made a single post, but now it is time to tell you all
who/what I am ;)
Well.. I'm just a nerd from Denmark with an interest in 4x4 .. I'm quite
new to 4x4s the one I have now is my first, it is an HDJ80 from 1997.. I
got it in Sep. of last year.
Shortly after I got it the CVs started acting up.. so I used all my
savings (hehe) and changed them.. as I got in there I found out that at
some point in time it had been running with broken oil-seals so the
axles didn't look good.. some great be grooves had been carved into
them.. so I fitted now ones.. and well the wheel-bearings wasn't looking
all that nice so I threw in some new..
After re-gaining my economic stability I started fitting the things that
I actually wanted.. until now I have fitted it with ARB-Bullbar, a Warn
M8000, ARB tow-bar, ARB roof-rack safari snorkel and an 2,5" OME
suspension .. it is running on BFG M/T.
Well.. that is my story up until now.. if you want to see my 4x4 there
are some pictures in my gallery (url below) .. it will be updated as I
produce more pictures..
anyway .. thanx to everybody on the list for some great posts :D
