Ireland to New Zealand Adventure

My first choice would be a lwb, however there have been a few people have done extensive overland trips with a family of 4 in lwb cruisers or similar. They just needed to choose their equipment they take carefully. So why can half that amount of people fit into a swb??

There are the big things that you might want to consider taking like:
-rooftop tent (roof rack) (or maybe a small pop up tent will work?
-2 spare wheels (rear wheel carrier)
-long range fuel tank (if possible in a SWB)
-fridge/ freezer (40liter should be ok)
-basic tools and parts

Already the list starts to grow, however if planned, and a little bit of ingenuity, I am sure you could get what you really need in vehicle. Just don't overload it! What else do you really need to add to the list??

A draw system might help you manage the day to day access of the equipment.

I would do a dry run for a long weekend or week away with the kit that you intend on taking before you make a final choice. Most camping / overland equipment should be universal with the exception of vehicle specific items like bumpers etc. if it does not work, then look at a lwb.
