That could check out an 80-series for me ?
ebay item 4611424026 - finishes on Sunday lunchtime
The reserve is ?3K which I can manage.
Its quite low spec, with no air-con etc, but its a UK car with diff-locks.
It doesn't look loved - which makes me a bit nervous, the trivial faults listed, the fact that it hasn't been cleaned before sale, and the less than salubrious surroundings, but its the right colour, diff locks and potentially affordable.
I'm more than capable of fixing the stuff listed, and enjoy tinkering.

Hey Andrew
Check out 4611534176, 4611495464, 4611434416 also check out 4610797602 this
one ended with no bids so you may be in a position to offer some cash and a
bar of chocolate or even make a better deal.

Some of those are a lot more than 3K which means I have to get into finance, which I don't mind, but it has to be the right truck, and I'm not in a rush.
Why are all/most of those burgundy ? I want a white/possibly silver one. I plan to off-road it, and the reds etc will look terrible with a few scratches

DVLA shows "Date of liability" (ie new road tax due) 01/04/2006, and the V5 issued on 20/12/2004.
So his "3 months road tax remaining" is a little optimistic, his MoT expiry dates don't add up (3/8/06 vs Oct 2006). The engine size of 4cc was probably intended to be litres!
Without paying money I can't find out any more, but I'd be dead careful about checking provenance before buying.

That was almost the final nail in the coffin - excellent info thanks.
Then I checked out his current and previous auctions, a whole bunch of fairground stuff, big caravan and a big car trailer.
I think I'll give this one a miss :-(

Hey Andy
Well done on that, I might not have thought about checking his other
auctions. So it would seem it could have been towing a really heavy load for
a lot of the time. Does it have a tow bar.
cheers

A "V5" is the vehicle registration document that every vehicle in the UK
is required to have. You must have something similar in the RoI.
"They" (that is the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency, aka DVLA) issue
them, and have just gone over to a new computerised system that -
amazingly - seems to work. They now tie up the annual MoT (testing)
data with the registration info, making it easier to check for people to
check up on cars for sale.
UK listers may not be aware that you can look up a limited amount of
information online (free) at
http://www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/. Select "vehicle enquiry"
and continue through the questions. (The subsequent URL is created
dynamically so I can't post a direct link here.)
If you know the registration number and vehicle type it will give you
the current licence and V5 status, which is how I looked up that Ebay
entry. You can also use the site to verify MoT and V5 info, again you
need to have the relevant numbers to use this feature.
It's quite fun looking up old cars you've owned in the past. For
example my old (air-cooled, thus now fashionable) VW camper that I
bought in 1979 is still running, but the poor thing has been painted
pink - presumeably by some mad surfer.
I'm amused that the seller had been flogging circus stuff. When I was
searching for mine I looked at "Honest John's" (Saturday Daily
Telegraph) website, who says under "bad points":
"Almost certain to have been used as a towcar, probably pulling
something heavy. A lot used by people of no fixed abode to tow chrome
plated caravans. Clocking is rife."
Seems he is right!

It might have been doing a lot of heavy towing but that's probably
reflected in the reserve, how many other 80s have you seen for that sort
of money?
Where about in Birmingham, it's a big place?
Jon.

Towing par-se isn't a problem, but he admits he does a ton in it on the motorway, and can't even be bothered to wash it before selling. Hardly likely to be model owner is he :-(
I don't know I'm afraid. I've lost interest already, but there will be others :)
