A guy I work with has recently imported a Figaro from Japan. He used a company to do his bidding at the auctions and arrange paperwork etc. Took some time but was hassle free.No SVA needed just an MOT. Also you are able to drive it away from the docks with no MOT or RFL but must have insurance. You can get an MOT without a registration document. He is away on holiday at the moment but if you want I can get more information.

Hi Kirk,
As far as I can tell the age and type of vehicle dictates if you only
need an MOT, or need to go through the SVA or ESVA.
I think a TLC would require putting through ESVA.

On a slight aside, a lot of Jap import 80's have the spare wheel hung on a
tyre carrier on the back. What is under the floor where the tyre goes on a
UK spec?

Hi Neill,
An empty space. For UK models there is the cross beam with the wheel
winch attached, from memory the imports either don't have anything
there at all or just the cross beam but no winch.

The perfect place for an LPG tank, then....
As long as I could live with being pummelled by a swinging spare wheel.
