Japanese manual

Hello all
My Landcruiser is a japanese import '94 turbo diesel and as such has a very
comprehensive manual - in Japanese. Just wondered if someone could tell me
about a couple of warning lights...
It looks like an exhaust pipe with a box silencer in the middle and there
are 4 wavy lines above it. Am I right in thinking that it may be an exhaust
gas temperature warning light? There is also a turbo warning light with a
red light above and below. Any clues...? (All the others seem fairly self
explanatory.)
The car also has a choke... But starts first time without it no problems...?
A good French web site pointed out by Roman the other day suggests that
there have been at some time Haynes manuals for our lovely cars. Is this the
case as they don't exist now... And am I right in thinking that the best
source of repair/maintenance info are two documents available from a Toyo
dealer, Engine Repair Manual RM172E and Repair Manual for Chassis & Body
RM184E.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Jeremy,
Doesn't sound familiar - could you take a photo by digital camera/phone and
send it over.
You don't get chokes on diesels - this is a hand throttle for fast idling -
ideal for winching or warming up in the morning.
You should be able to pick up a Haynes manual from eBay or Amazon for about
?12-?15. They aren't as accurate as the factory ones, but are OK.
The factory manuals are worth getting if you really want to dig around the
guts of your vehicle although they are a bit pricey and some are almost
impossible to get hold of.

Weird! If you are really stuck, and you have a Japanese manual, then scan in the dashboard light page(s) & I should be able to get one of my Japanese colleagues to translate it for you.

I'll take a picture of the page asap. Don't have a conventional scanner,
just a film scanner for transperencies. What is the best way of posting a
low res picture?
Thanks.

Hi Jeremy,
If you can take a low res digital photo, just email it to me as an
attachment and I will take a look at it - just take a photo of the
warning light.
If you are using your mobile you can always send it as a MMS to my
mobile.

Hi All
While on the subject, I have a 1992 vx import and would like to get hold of
an owners manual in English. I do not know what the buttons and knobs do.
What, for example, does a tilt lever do?

Jeremy,
I had the same problem with my Pajero import. But from the Paj club I got a
very good English version of the owner's book. I believe its from a
publisher in New Zealand and the logo on the front cover is like 'JAPNZ
Publishing'. Sorry I can't be more help as there are 1000 miles between me
and the Paj at present so can't access the book !
Also try Autobooks direct too. The Haynes website is good and they will
offer you an OZ version probably for the workshop manual. No great problem,
just that there are a range of engines Toy fitted for all markets, but if I
recall my Haynes Toy manual covers 4 diesel variants, of which my HZ
thankfully is one. Best of luck.

Hello guys,
Has any one asked Maarten Verschure if he can supply English version
user & factory manuals? A group order would make sense, wouldn't it?
