Julian gets stuck

I got bogged about 20 yards from where I'm sitting now ...

.=2E. in our field, in front of the house, right outside my office. Right
up to the belly all round in a wet patch, and had to be pulled out by a
tractor. Cue hysterical laughter from children & neighbouring farmer.

On another occasion, 3 winters ago, I was collecting logs elsewhere in
the same field from a blown over tree that I'd sawn up. It was January
and the ground was frozen, so I thought "I'll be OK". And I was for the
first load, but we delayed the second, the sun came up & melted the
ground, and down we went again, only this time I had a trailer full of
logs on the back.

I had to get up at sparrowfart the next morning when it was all frosty,
unhitch the trailer (not so easy when laden in deep mud), drive her out
(just), then haul the trailer onto harder ground with a long rope. All
good fun in retrospect!

Then, to rub it in, the electricity people turned up for their 5 yearly
tree trimming session under our 11kV power line, and they had a Unimog
with "tractor" type tyres. It simply waltzed through everything without
even a slither .. now that is a proper cross-country vehicle!

| Good Lord, mate, you got pulled out by a bleeding Land Rover? The
ignominy of it all.
| And there you were a mere 5 meters/yards from a perfectly good
hard-packed road.

Hi Reno,
The REAL story is that I had suggested that the LR came to play in the
mud as well, but it was too chicken and even when I tried to tow it in
using it's winch they refused to let off their hand brake!
