Julian - switch on keyless fob

Hi Julian, I saw your post on 80s cool (but can't access it - don't
ask!) about what the little switch on your 'plipper' does. As I
understand it, it selects whether or not you are the internal movement
sensor (ultrasonic) bit of your alarm. Something to do with whether you
have a dog in the car.. I've never tested this, but it's a theory you
can try out easily.
Cheers,
Andy

Hi Andy,
Thanks for that.
That makes sense and handy to have with the dogs in the boot.
Usually I'm OK because they tend to keep their heads down, although one
of the terriers got a shock when he popped up above the line of the
rear seats and set the alarm off - don't think he will do that again!

Julian, this is mentioned in the L/C handbook. Not having mine in work with me I will have to trust to memory - First plip - 2 flashes and interior and exterior alarms set - susequent plip - 1 flash and the interior alarm is deactivated. Next plip and it is reactivated and so on.

Julian

My handbook describes the "TVSS IIIB" system as follows:

"Press once for lock/alarm WITH interior protection"
"Press twice for lock/alarm WITHOUT ditto"

A third press re-activates the interior protection.

It also says "the security system has a memory: if the alarm was activated during your absence the hazard lights will flash 3 times when disarmed".

Having said all that my system neither looks like the key fob in the book, nor behaves like it, rather I get what you see: one switch position gives 2 flashes, and the other three. I haven't figured out which deactivates the ultrasonic sensors though - academic for me as I disconnected the sounder some time ago when it filled with water.

So you are probably standard, if undocumented.

Thanks Gareth,
Just found some paperwork from my old 80 and as Andy pointed out the
switch is for enabling/disabling the Ultrasonic sensors.
Pushing the switch on the side towards the buttons turns on the
Ultrasonic sensors and results in the three beeps/flashes when arming.
I think the push once/twice option is only available on the latest
models.
