I have been having constant electrical issues recently.

The latest is that i actually managed to kill a battery! Horrible egg smell and the battery casing was inflated!

I replaced it with a new battery, cleaned the earth terminal and cables then started her up.

I then noticed I'm getting over 16v whilst the engine is running!?! It's a replacement alternator as well??

Any ideas?

Did you forget to remove the battery vent plugs ?

No I didn't forget!

Could it be the voltage regulator? The voltage yesterday kept on going up and up, at one point it was at 17v!

I disconnected the regulator and obviously had no problems but obviously it won't be charging the battery whilst driving.?

Electrics are not my strong point i'm afraid so i can only guess maybe you got a 24v alternator ???

16V will boil away the water in the battery & could result in it going bang . I think it should be charging at about 14.5 V ??? something wrong with the voltage regulator methinks

That's what I thought.

Does anyone have a part number of the voltage regulator, the writing on mine has rubbed off!
