Hi all,
Could anyone suggest a cheap source to buy the electric antenna? S/H is fine.
Mine has packed up irrepairably. Another option would be a simple
fixed whip antenna. Any suggestions which is the best?

Hi Roman,
Are you after the whole winder mechanism or just the aerial?

Welcome home. I've been thinking about a new aerial for some time simply
because replacing the electric one is such a pain. Someone suggested a
ribbon aerial that runs along the inside of a window - probably rear boot
window, but not sure whether they are any good...

Julian,
The winder packed up, failing to fully extend the whip. As it happened
just a day before my trip, I cut the whip off and fixed it into the
hole in the wing. Now I need both.
Jeremy,
That makes sense but I have darkened windows so the ribbon aerial
would not stick for too long, I supppose. I can put up with a whip in
the usual place, probably only for FM reception. I remember from the
old days there used to be shorth "rubber duck" aerials available but
maybe there are better options now.

I've got the darkened windows too - the bloke I spoke to said it could be
done along one of the rear side windows but I haven't pursued it yet. I'll
have another word and see what he says.
Haven't seen the rubber duck jobs for ages but they will probavbly be about.

Hi Roman,
Try agricultural suppliers - they have the rubber duck style aerials on
tractors.

Hey Roman
Welcome back safe and sound.
I replaced my electric antenna years ago after fitting two within a year.
I just got fed up with the cost and the hassle.
Mine constantly hit bushes and branches of trees and eventually broke.
I have a short very flexable rubber one which may work well if I checked
what was wrong with it.
At least it doesn't get broken.
