Morning…..I’ve noticed a small oily leak in behind the front wheel - a small drip patch on the drive, not a puddle. Can’t get it in the garage until next week, but anyone any idea what this could be? Ive circled where it looks to be coming from (i know that could be just where it is finding an exit).

thanks

That's the ARB I think, which has no oil, so I would assume it's leaking from above that somewhere and working its way down.

Pop the bonnet and have a look from above. There's only really the power steering reservoir and fuel pipe from the filter to the injector pump on that side. Neither of which you want to be leaking. Hopefully obvious if it smells of diesel or not.

Will do when I’m home thanks. It didn’t have a diesel smell to it but was greasy/oily and black

Have you changed the oil filter recently ? There's a rim around the bottom edge that collects the drips from changing it, that runs off through a small downwards plastic tube

It was changed in Feb around 6000 miles ago when the service was done. I’ve only just noticed the spots on the drive this week - would i have noticed it sooner if that was the issue?

Oddly mine was done months ago with previous owner by Toyota, on history.
I noticed the wet and oily tube when I was under it, and Karl2000 told me where it came from, as I couldn't see from top or bottom. Filter was tight so I just cleaned around the bottom rim and tube and it's remained dry.

Had a look under the bonnet and one of the pipes looks to be failing/have failed so will check levels and top up until thur when its in. Thanks again…

I was going to top up the power steering fluid once i checked the levels if it needed it. Ive got a pic below of the pipe circled, then closer x 2

Karl2000 - is there anything you would advise against with that? Just with asking (and my mechanical inability!!!)

No problem - just with you asking I wasn’t sure if there was a ‘you don’t want to do that’ coming
