Guys
I might also be interested - so count me in (so long as they're not TOO
expensive!)

I am also considering getting them - perhaps look into a bulk buy?
I'll contact George to see what he says.

Hi Guys
Just a quick one I promise. You can all slag me after this for being so
quick on the uptake at times and this was one of them.
Last night while replacing the inner headlight bulb on the cruiser. I think
I noticed something that I did not realise before.
The inner bulbs are 55w and the outer ones are the 55/65w so this makes the
inner ones the same as the outer dim lights, is that correct. If that is the
case then the outer ones are the only high beams we have is that correct.
cheers

John, assuming I have understood you correctly - the answer is yes / no !
Low beam - 55 watt - main headlight only.
High beam - 65 watt - main headlight and 55 watt in the adjacent "spot light".
Gareth.

Hey Gareth
So the cruiser has four high beams when on , two outer at 65w and two inner
at 55w. If that is the case how come the inner 55w is only a dim and the
outer ones at 55w are high. Ill bet this is to do with the different lenses
in the lights that I have learned about from you guys of late.
cheers
John

John - "dim" this is confusing terminology. Lets call it: high / main beam or low / dipped beam.
"dim" could mean that there is something wrong with the wiring / light and the actual light is dimly glowing - as in an earth fault. Or is this your problem ?
Now you can understand why I have suggested you come over a couple of days before Salisbury so we can have a look at the vehicle.
Gareth.

Ah Gareth
My lights or wiring are not Dim just dipped. I think I am the one that is
Dim at times and maybe my wiring / circuits/ relays are on their way out.
It just goes to show the proper terminology is as important as the actual
items being talked about.
cheers

down, though the switch is in off position and the ignition key in my
hand.tonight I had additional effects like Xmas tree-they were flashing
quite spectacularly.Any ideas why?

Hi Lubo,

Do you have a non standard wiring loom for the headlights?
It sounds like a relay is sticking on, either in a 3rd party loom or
possibly the main headlight relay.

Hi Julian
the Toyota guy said the same, but you know how much I trust them;-)
have no idea if it is non standard wiring loom-the car was Germany
import-probably the Toyota guys won't answer your question too...

Lubo
btw-while the lights were on, the lights of the dashboard disappeared but we
found out it was a fuss:After we changed the fuss came that problem. So the
car was complete dark inside except for the small lights where the aircon is
and the other lights for the warming...did i made it messy?sorry about
that...

Lubo
I think you have a 1996 1HD-FT like mine, in which case if there is no
extra wiring harness the lights are run by two relays in the fuse box in
the engine compartment, on the left hand side near the ABS unit.
Take the lid off this box, and standing on the left side of the car
you'll see a bank of fuses with two relays at the top right/centre of
this box.
The left one is the "headlight control relay" which controls on/off, the
right one is the "dimmer relay" which switches between high and low
beam. From memory the right hand one has a green hat, but my memory may
be wrong here!
These relays are known to wear and over-heat, and usually the result is
no lights at all, but I suppose they could stick on as well. Next time
it goes wrong try pulling out the left hand one, and then putting it
back in. If this solves the problem I suspect that you need a new
relay. You could try the other relay too, and it might help, but given
how the wiring works I don't think it will.
I hope this helps.
