Lincomb Fun Challenge Weekend 9, 10 October

You need 5 or 6 turns but they do need to be tight to get the capstan effect. Drilling the hole through is what goodwinch recomended when I phoned them to check my winch wasn't special needs. My Ox had an eye on the end of the rope that attached to the drum so you could get the first wrap nice and tight. Anyway, should be problem solved so now I just need to go back and check it can pull me up that slope ok.

Flingers clossed it does the job for you as I bought the same winch on the usual basis - if its good enough for El Wildsmith, its good enough for me...

MUX spat the dummy out this lunchtime & wouldn't start so I borrowed the battery pack from my garage across the road & he started like usual... Looks like its a couple of new batteries for him.

Baring in mind the winch to be installed, is it worthwhile looking for heavy duty batteries or just get myself the leisure battery straight from the off... Anyhoo, to stop polluting this thread - I've done THIS

Seeing as you have a pair of batteries Gav I don't think you need to worry about getting anything special to power your winch.

Many thanks to Tony and the rest for a cracking weekend, got back from the continued holiday down Gower last night and Laura's uploaded the piccies tonight so here's some for you to have a gander at :)

"Oh god" I hear you say :p It took some time to extract Richard from this hole.

Laura and Matt were really pleased with themselves for finding these two punches. They were well hidden

The 3rd recovery needed from "that hole" on Saturday. No-one else dared go near it after that..

Going back for those first couple of punches we missed :)

New springs flex well. Really pleased considering I just extended the standard shocks and still have my front anti roll bar attached

Damn punch no.11  We all watched Rob walk in and get this one no problem... then slide away as he pulled back out. I tried to follow him in but then couldn't get traction on the torn earth  I gave up after about the 5th or 6th attempt and let Matt have a go, but by this time the ground was so churned up he could barely get his vehicle pointing in the right direction before the side slop got hold of him. This is where he asked for a pull out sideways as he didn't like the look of the tree he'd parked against :?

Chillin' at Llangennith. Note the "high tide" mark on the spare wheel  no mud inside though, those toyota seals are awesome.

Looking forward to the next one

Jim.

Good photos Jim - nice one. Looks like you had a good few extra days too
