Lj70 build thread

It does look a good paint job Imust say, it’s lacquered i presume?
 Said no not lacquered as used commercial paint.
He said better quality paint but I’m Not sure how that makes a difference?

That is a great finish Bund, are the side steps going to get polished up to match?

Certainly be cleaned, he’s said the rubber has been glued on to the steps. I get the feeling they’re rather bored of it so I’ll have a go at removing the glued rubber.

It’s probably something I can manage with my skill set! Haha

That’ll be some wedding present that will.

I cant wait to see this finished!!!!

It just keeps going :expressionless: so Cars looking good on the outside though there are mechanical issues to now address. Bens helped with the likely oil leaks and it’s going to be washed again underneath to see what’s what.

The only time I drove the steering wheel was off centre which really upset my ocd. They take it to get it tracked at a place called tubbytyres in crawley(can’t see it as the 4/4 specialist I was told)said the rods are seized, Bens said he’s seen worse. They heated them up at the end and supposedly clamped them with a long wrench but are saying they’re seized.

No such thing as a seized track rod thread IMO, slide the clamp off, heat it to cherry red, quench it a few times in paraffin/diesel mix if necessary and it will unscrew.

More to the truth, they can’t be bothered.

my thoughts unfortunately.

Gents just wanted to share my good day, I finally picked up the truck an hour or so ago and the drive back was brilliant.

The first garage I pulled into some guy approached me and said I’ve always wanted one of those, I haven’t yet but I will. I said I’d been waiting 13 months myself. Was just the best and I’ve had some awesome cars

Hope you enjoy, it’s looking really good and I got my new Toyota badge on straight away and a temp turbo badge.

Oh man! That is looking so so good. I can feel your cruiser grin from here. Whatever that cost to bring back to that condition it was so worth it! I take my hat off to you and your body works shop.:clap::clap::clap:

‘If you’re gonna do it- do it good’

You did it good!!

Been enjoying it a bit today but dogs are cooking as can’t get the rear sliding windows to open.... will get back to that tomorrow.

on previous pics looks like the powersteering pump bracket has oil on it.
Mine looks same and culprit is alternator leak.

Do these alternators have a vac pump on them then Alexy? I’m puzzled as to what would leak from an alternator? Bearings are usually sealed in alternators.

i can only see a picture, he needs to look properly to see if thats the case or not.

on these LJ cars, alternator has an oil fed vacum pump on the back. Mine leaks, so I bought an aftermarket one (Quinton hazell) and will see if original can be repaired or not.

I’m not sure which photo Alexy means?

There is always going to be something to do for sure. Today I noticed this rubber hanging off.
