LJ70 Engine Noise

Hi All,
My LJ has developed a lightish sounding noise/rattle at high revs, it only seems to appear when the engine is not heavily loaded so "cruising" revs and no noise on overrun. My son says it has been doing it for a while! I must be going a bit deaf. Any ideas/ experience? I have a feeling it could be the beginning of the end, I am not going to get involved in rebuilds expenses etc.

On my wifes it was the tappets, I set them up and it is now fine.
