Meet Up

We really must organise a meet up at some point.
There has been a been a bit of talk in the past about meeting up around
Salisbury plain.
Any suggestions anyone on where and when?
Saturdays are a bit tricky for me at the moment, otherwise any other
day of the weeks should be fine.

BP Ultima diesel - opinions?

I pulled in to fill up in the midlands yesterday, and found myself alongside a BP "Ultima" diesel pump.
At 92.5p/litre it is not cheap, but it claims to give more economy, better acceleration, quieter running, wash the dishes, etc. So I put in a tankful.
It's too early to tell about economy since it was only 120 miles ago, but (subjectively) I'd say the engine was quieter and there is less smoke coming out of the back under hard acceleration.
I'll report later on what, if any, improvement in mpg shows up; but has anyone else tried it?

Reporting back on BP "Ultimate" diesel

Well I've used my tank of v. expensive BP "Ultimate" diesel, and I said I'd report back.
Verdict:
- Engine possibly a tad quieter & smoother, but that's a very subjective assessment
- Possibly a bit less smoke under heavy acceleration
- No noticeable improvement in performance
- No noticeable improvement in fuel economy (did just under 28 mpg, but that included a lot of short journeys + an afternoon rolling the stone I'd laid on the drive)
So sorry BP, but I've gone back to the bog standard (comprehensive?) stuff.
