Monster wheels...! Jeeeeeez!

That does sound as if it’s been well set up and cared for. If it was black it might have @Shayne all excited with those tyres. :)

If they have built that for expedition travel then they picked the wrongggggggg paint job...

They picked the right tyres tho

Certainly looks like a tonka toy, it reminds me of another LC I have seen on here with a similar paint job.
Lots of countries I would not want to take that.
Reminds me of the story about the bloke with a British army paint job defender who had to repaint it with emulsion house paint to get into a north african country from Spain.

At a glance i'd say the tyre's actually measure a little over 33 inch and they are set on -35et 16x10 rims . And they are only rated to do about 70mph which is why i don't have them on my 90 .

Have you seen how much a decent cubby box lid costs these days? £20k wouldn't even buy enough duck tape to fix a knackered one.

The cubby box lid is the first thing I look at when viewing a 21 year old truck - if it's alright, then everything's alright! :icon-wink:

My issue with that is just the paint job, what's under the wrap is the question.

looks like their expedition preparation has been advised by some internet "experts"

Now I love my 95, but I wouldn't spend 20k on it

I saw that the other day. I think it's fantastic. I'd just be laughing out loud all the time I was driving it. You have to remember it's being sold by someone on behalf of the owner, so some of the blurb is clearly nonsense.
Used for riverside patrols and bridge repairs hence the camo wrap makes about as much sense as used to transport fish therefore it's shaped like an ice lolly.

All of that work and cash and it's got no winch and never been properly off roaded. The laughs just keep coming. I wouldn't take that anywhere except shooting. Can you imagine rocking up at a foreign military check point and trying to tell them you're on holiday and not trying to invade their country ha ha ha

Seriously just for a second (whilst I wipe away my tears) Dodds 4x4 - head rebuilders? A transmission specialist in Poole? These sound handy. Alisport make tanks? I didn't know that. And it has 35s on it. How? As an import it will have the intercooler, no? Those tyres weren't cheap.

Anyway back to laughing. I needed cheering up. I might have it as my desk top for a bit.

Again, seriously I'd love to do mine in that Arctic camo wrap Silver, white and grey style.

That was James, (posts as Tembo on various forums), trying to get into Morocco. Good news is they now don't care about military looks getting in.

Poole/Wimbourne area has few gearbox specialists, a Toyota 4x4 guy and an expedition place, all very low key and I can't remember names. One of them rebuilt my diff and I'm still wincing from the cost!

Id love to know what merits the saying "Expedition ready".. That ones just got a box in the back.. There is a 100 series on ebay "Expedition ready" But its got Eco Saver, Cheapo Tyres on it and rusty front wings..There must be a line where something is or isnt Expedition ready...:icon-rolleyes:.. Someone enlighten me!

What a classic ad, he’s managed to get everything in there (except “rare 24 valve manual”) but I’ll bet he tried

No tyre kickers please...

How much is it worth though , is an import so rust is not likely to be a problem , its a Prado 90 so factory intercooled 1kz-te with 136k miles on it (we know this is nothing especially in an auto) and twin batteries probably . near 2000 quids worth of wheels tyres and suspension . Scoop , snorkel , new rear lights , exhaust , all the bushes done .

A 4 grand truck with at least 4 grand spent on it and at 6 grand your getting lots of time and effort for free . If it tickles your fancy 6 is what i'd offer telling him it needs a new radiator .

Note probably has LSD rather than a manually locking diff in the rear axle .

Not a fan of the fake scoop, they could have at least done a IC to make it work.

And something seems a little off with the transfer case leaver, as though it's in Low range, but it's on concrete???

People forget that just because you spend money on uprated suspension, wheels and tyres etc you can't just add that value to the asking price. As soon as you walk out of the show room with new goods the value drops 40%

A refurbed gearbox and head add nothing to the value imho

Perhaps not Mark but if its what you want your going to spend that money anyway , and how many Sundays will it take you to get there if Sunday is your only day off . I'm assuming the truck was worth 4 grand before he started modifying it .

Of course only by viewing it can we know what it really is .

I think the replacement head, gearbox rebuild and new rad pretty much tells a story of big problems in the past somewhere, possibly the oil cooler failing and gearbox oil/coolant mixing.

If on inspection the underside is ok (and ignoring the wrap) its a 5k truck tops
