Paul, great start on a trip report. Shocked about last years trip and how it ended... those pics don't look nice at all!

Much better outcome this year those, some nice pics so far!

Nice write up. Looks like fun.

re camping: Pull up at any dune and make camp? Ok with the law or just don't get caught?

I took the liberty of making some minor touch ups to one of your pics: ;)

I deliberately chose to drive home on the same road that we had our 'bump' on again this year. When we got to the scene I keyed the mike on the CB to tell my mate in the Landy. I couldn't speak.... there was a huge lump in my throat. I really wasn't expecting that.

This trip has allowed us to close the lid on last years nightmare as we now have happy memories to take forward from this one

Crispin, camping in the desert is fine.... just find a spot and pitch up.

Thanks for the photo touch up :D

Great writeup so far Paul. Looking forwards to the rest of it

I remember your post about the crash from back in the day - horrendous... I still don't know how you both got out without serious injury  Good to hear that this trip has helped put it behind you

We then dropped over 300 feet in less than a mile down to the coast line.

Our destination for today was a superb secluded beach that we found on last years trip.

We were soon joined by two beach 'bums'.

This one was a right character.

::.3rd September.::

After spending a night at the beach camp it was time to head inland, our destination was Riad Hida in Oulad Berhil.

This took us through Tafraoute, a short detour South of Tafaroute are the famous Blue Rocks with have recently been repainted.

Having spent the previous 4 nights wild camping our room at Riad Hida was a most welcome site

A hearty breakfast was served which certainly set us up for todays trip to Marrakech.
1009181257_6bmaU-L.jpg

If I am honest, Marrakech does not excite me any more but, the guys that joined us on the trip wanted to visit so it had to be done.

After going around in ciricles trying to escape Marrakech's narrow streets we finaly found our way out to the East.

About 100 miles North East are the Cascades de Ouzou

A sign said toilets this way.... it was a hole in the ground and the 'flush' was a guy with a Coke bottle cut in half. Lucy was reluctant but when you need to go... the sign said 1DH (about 10p) the guy almost fell over when Lu gave him 10DH

Tonights stop was close to the Sources Oued Oum Er Rbia so we needed to press on.

We passed this little girl along the way who gave us a lovely smile as she herded her donkeys off the piste to let us pass.

You are indeed correct about the dog you saw on the beach camp.

We named him Bobby friendly chap who stay on guard under our car all night.

Lokks like a great trip. We are off to Morocco next week. Currently at base camp in Alicante doing final prep.

do you have a route log you could send through, to see if you found something new?

Cheers

Tony
