Well, old chum, seems all govs in British Isles (and even Eire) like
the idea of messing up drivers and MPH/KPH is just another spanner in
the works; we have more speed cameras per hectare than the whole of
Europe put together (well, its not that bad, but its bad enough).
Take me for instance.
Our yellow friendly gatso cameras flashed at me twice in one day -
Three times x 2, once in the morning and once in the evening. They're
supposed to flash twice and then a thrid time after a pause - did they
flash in the order they are supposed to? no! my contact says they're
supposed to flash once if there is no film, twice if there is film and
one is caught speeding - once to take the regis number the second to
confirm the regis number, and then a third time to get you.
I so far haven't received a letter from the police (6th Dec 04 was when
it happened) they are supposed to send you a letter within 14 days and
an extra three days in case of post delays - apparently I am within my
right to refuse to pay if the letter is received by me after the third
week (21 days).
I know this subject is a little off-list, but I thought this info might
help others who have been flashed at, and the code for the flashing
sequence, and what it means.

Hi Guys
Just thought I would let you all know that our wonderful Gov had
decided to
replace all the mph limits with kph. That may sound great but all the
vehicles up to now have there speedos in mph We also have a penelty
points
system for a wide range of driving offences, can you imagine the
problem
now. Its hard enough looking at your speedo every 30 or so seconds to
make
sure you have not been speeding but now we will have to look at the
mph
then change it to kph aswell. Or we could look at the smaller kph on
the
speedo for when you see the signs in kph and then look at the mph on
the
speedo for when the signs are in mph. This country can not get the
simplest
of things right most of the time, I can not imagine them changing all
the
road signs in the whole country and getting it right.
