Greetings All

My name is Mike and I have just joined the forum.

I have had a few Land Cruisers, but the latest is a 2006 ex-Japan VX Limited 4.7l with 45,000kms on the clock. Its straight from the Japanese auction so I am hoping the mileage is correct, and it is in mint condition.

I live in East Africa, and travel all over Tanzania and Kenya. My previous LC, a 1998 100 VX Ltd 4.2 diesel (which we still own) has done over 285,000 kms having been as far north as Lake Turkana and as far south as Johannesburg! We are a big safari family, so getting around the region on- and off-road, is what we use the cars for. We have a Conqueror Comfort off-road camping trailer which is ideally suited for towing with a 100 series.

No serious mods in mind, but will do the following:
> steel bullbars front and rear
> spare wheel carrier to be installed on rear door
> snorkel
> second 90 litre fuel tank and a manual fuel transfer pump
> second battery in parallel, and a third with an isolator for running fridges
> roof rack suitable for roof-top tent and safari work generally

Prior to these cars I also owned a 1992 80 series VX Ltd diesel and a basic model 100 series from 1999.

A long time ago I drove from the UK to Kenya via Mauritania, Nigeria, DRC and Uganda. That was in "ahem" a Land Rover though....

Mike

Welcome Mike, excellent intro.

Sounds wonderful. Just the essential mods.
We'll need pictures though.

Still sounds good mods for exciting adventure right there in Tanzania!
