Folks,
With the old forum, new users were vetted by one of the admins before being approved and his caught most of the spammers. Problem is, it's a ball ache, both for the user and for Gary, Jon and I.
I've installed some software (thanks Bat21) which checks the users beforehand and either stops registration or allows them through. I have also set it so that new users cannot post links until they have at least 15 posts.
These two things should stop pretty much all the spammers.
I have turned off the manual process now and totally relying on the software to catch them out.
If one does slip through, and the f**kers will, please PM one of the mods so we can delete it. Assuming they have some sort of web address in, please don't take notice of it, it only gives them what they want and makes it worth their while then. They're bottom feeding scum (Including the Man-With-A-Van from Manchester!)
Thanks
Crispin
