Hello Elcofolk,
I'm trying to find a mail-order supplier of genuine Toyota oil filters,
90915-30002, after driving 25 miles to my local dealer to find the spares
department closed, and then 25 miles back again! I won't repeat my comments
but they were 'colourful' and of course not helped by the fact that I know I
could have phoned to check their hours before setting out!
As a result I have searched on-line and found some possibilities on the
internet, believe it or not on Ebay.
Problem - there are genuine 90915-30002 filters offered at =A314.21 inc post,
90915-YZZJ3 filters offered at =A38.62 inc post from the same Toyota dealer,
and another source offering 'Genuine Toyota' parts for =A35.95+2.95 post.
Assuming the YZZJ3 and the =A35.62 offerings are the same thing the question
is 'what is the difference between the new and old original part numbers and
is there any reason to continue to buy the old version?'
I won't willingly use after market filters as I have over the years been
sold a variety of rubbish for a string of Toyota vehicles and so would
prefer the correct parts. The 90915-30002 is quite a complex piece of
equipment having two different filtering media which I'm sure some of the
real cheapies don't have. (some haven't even had a non-return valve...). It
isn't bad value for money but it does seem silly to spend %0% more if it
isn't necessary.
