Old Thirsty The Petrol 80

Fitting 285s made my speedo bang on to GPS.

My 81 has 35's auto diffs with manual transmission hooked up with the import speedo reducer and the speedo is bang on with the GPS! Absolutely shocked how that worked out! Lol

Today having the Krown treatment

I’ve just fitted 285/75/16 BFG KO2s on mine David, drives sweet but slightly under GPS speedo. They measure as near as damn it 33”... at 38 psi unloaded ...

1st tank of petrol achieved 14.36 mpg ok ish but I will get more out of it for sure

I only get 20 out of the diesel so as its cheaper it cant be that much different for that power and sound benefit you have with a petrol

I paid 119.9 for petrol today at Sainsburys

That's not bad really, what journey types is that?
try it with higher octane stuff too. Mine does well on Tesco momentum 99.

Can tweak ignition timing too if hasn't already been done. Helps with low end power delivery and can help mpg a little too.

I drive with PWR switch pressed for round town driving, let's the engine rev rather then changing gear too early at lower speeds. It does like to rev and pulls hard all the way!

My exhaust is a bit loud at the moment so the mpg is suffering Haha. Need to re pack the muffler!

It was a lot of local driving plus a 120 mile motorway trip, my exhaust is very load you are right it does not do much for mpg:icon-biggrin:

Tunnels, 2nd gear and hold about 2k rpm :icon-twisted:

Slowing down in 1st hi or low sounds great too, get nice burble on over run :icon-biggrin:

Doesn't do much for the mpg though!

14mpg is pretty much what I'm getting too, although I'm using LPG so maybe slightly better if I used petrol more. Filled up at 57.9p/litre yesterday though so not all bad. :)

And the next job will be this
