[OT] M&S Tyres for Car

Do any of you know of any good makes of Mud and Snow tyres for a road
car?
The standard road tyre on my wife's Volvo V40 has extremely poor
traction on the local country lanes often leaving her scrabbling for
grim when running close or on the verges to let other traffic past.
Also the braking on anything bar dry clean roads is very weak.
So we have decided to try to replace the tyres with some M&S tyres to
help on the muddy wet local lanes.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, bearing in mind I use the car
occasionally for high speed motorway/cross country runs for meetings.

Julian,
Hi normal mud and snow as we once new them are difficult to get at the
national type of tyre distributors, but Colway make very good ones. The
smaller country type of fitter may get them for you or try Demon Tweeks or
Colway them selves. These tyres are amazing and offer tremendous grip and
cutting power on wet grass.

Hi Anthony,
Yes, Colway had crossed my mind, although I do remember we always used
to have some Michelin M&S tyres on our old Subarus, was looking for
something similar.

Julian,
I have BFG all terain on my cruiser. These tyres are M + S rated.
I do not know if you can get them in small sizes. I have had a lot of
good advice about tyres from a guy called Grant at Red Rock tyres,
advertised in most 4x4 mags. Grant will probably know of a suitable
tyre.

Hi Clive,
OK, will give him a try.
How is your injection pump - all sorted now?
Have you noticed any difference in performance? (obviously apart from
the fact that it now runs!)

Julian,
The pump seems good now. I have so far noticed that the towing
with a load seems better, acceleration solo is marginal but my wife
swears that the car is "not so slugish", not that I thought it was.
I have also had a power steering fluid leak. This was from the
pipe that runs across the front of the chassis. There are two of these
pipes, One for the steering, and one for the AC. The pipe had fretted
on the chassis causing rust and a pin hole. This pipe cannot be taken
out with the rad. in, it is also the wierdest shape. I have cut it out
and replaced it with hose for now. I will probably make something to
suit in 10mm copper and hammerite it in a week or so.
If any one can suggest a reason for this pipe running along the
front of the chassis, where it seems a bit exposed, please tell me. I
thought it would offer some cooling to the fluid on it's way back to
the reservoir but the other pipe is for the AC, so no cooling needed
there.
Regards, Clive.

Hi Clive,
Are you going to do the pump tweaks?

Julian,
They were already done when the pump broke. Now I dont know
whether they have left it, or re-set it to default.
Regards, Clive.

Hi Clive,
I would be inclined to do it again.
Did you fit it or did they?
